Smeg Becomes Part Of The BIM World

April 17, 2018

Following demand in the architectural and house builder markets, leading Italian appliance
manufacturer, Smeg has introduced the use of Building information modeling (BIM) services to
communicate with this market. With the growing use of BIM files within the construction
industry, Smeg has been quick to respond to requirements. Designers, architects and furniture
makers will be able to complete their projects in the best possible way via a BIM library of
Smeg home appliances.

Building information modeling (BIM) is a process for creating and managing information on a
construction project lifecycle. BIM files can be extracted, exchanged or networked to support
decision-making regarding a building or other built asset.

The virtual building process has tremendous benefits. The data model generated in the
building planning phase can be used across all other phases in the building lifecycle. The
process also allows planners and architects the ability to test construction plans and ideas in a
virtual space to assess their practical feasibility. BIM modelling offers substantial cost and time savings; through product assessment and decision making to reducing costs from minimising errors and increasing efficiency in the actual build phase.

Designers, architects, specifiers and kitchen specialists can now complete their projects with
Smeg appliances via an archive of BIM and 3D files, which can be easily downloaded from the
Smeg website. This allows the designer, architect or kitchen specialist to guide their customers
through the choice, helping them to select the product best suited to the style of their kitchen.

Abode Support The Ochre Charity This Christmas

December 6, 2017

For the past few years Abode have been wishing its customers and distributor partners ‘Seasons Greetings’ with a merry e-Christmas card. Instead of spending money on hundreds of Christmas cards, the caring Abode company have helped many people by donating money to different charities.

This year, Abode are making a donation to the registered charity Ochre, which promotes awareness of oesophageal cancer. This is in memory of our media buyer, Bob Williams who worked with Abode since its inception in 2002. Bob bravely fought his cancer last year and never lost his sense of humour or his cheeky smile.

Ochre intend to encourage research into the causes of oesophageal cancer which is now the fourth highest cancer killer in the UK and to develop information and support services for patients and their families. The charity is attempting to change this situation and has recently been instrumental in the purchase of a state-of-the-art system, LIFE-GI, now in operation in a Glasgow hospital. Each system costs £39,000 and is capable of detecting cancerous cells at a very early stage thereby offering vastly improved chances of survival to oesophageal cancer patients.

If you want to help in saving lives from this terrible disease, visit the charity on-line at and pledge your donation.

November 17, 2017

Kitchen and bedroom manufacturing brands often talk about the quality of their manufacturing in their marketing and BA Components are no exception. However, talking and doing are two different things so they wanted to showcase their quality manufacturing to the world, regardless of location. But how have they done so?

BA Components have gone all out on bringing the production process to the fore by investing in an immersive virtual tour experience that can put anyone deep inside their factory at the click of a button.

BA Components virtual tour is literally the next best thing to being on their factory floor. This high definition fully 360 tour offers viewers a complete interactive experience by clicking on embedded video at each stage of the kitchen and bedroom door manufacturing process.
